DES MOINES, Iowa – After being closed for over a decade, leaders announced at the beginning of the year that The Ingersoll Dinner Theater would be making a return as The Ingersoll.
Construction has been ongoing at the theater since the spring, but now, the opening date is being pushed back. Owners originally wanted the space to be open in November, but it looks as if it’s going to take all year for the theater to reopen, as supply chain issues have delayed the construction process.
“For us to preserve this building, we know what it means to the community. So, we really wanted to stand in here and take our time. We didn’t want to cheap it out and go to Home Depot or Lowe’s and use components that everybody can pick up anywhere. It means a lot to us to take the extra time for the finishing details,” said Renee Crowell, the executive director of The Ingersoll.
Crowell says first shows are slated for December 31, but even with a delay in opening, the theater is not slowing down, as new acts for the beginning of the year are being announced.
“This is something for everyone. We have comedy, we have live music. We’re looking into small live theater. We know what this place means to, a lot of people came here with their grandma on Saturdays. We’re looking at children’s programing. We’re working on that as well. Truly something for everyone,” said Crowell
