POLK COUNTY, Iowa — The name of a man who died following a crash on Highway 65 in Polk County early Monday morning has been released by officials.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office said Jasen W. Burton, 42, of Des Moines, died from injuries received in a crash on southbound Highway 65 at NE 112th Street. Witnesses told deputies that a pickup truck had veered into a ditch and was on fire underneath. The crash happened at 4:22 a.m.
Witnesses were able to get Burton, the only occupant of the truck, out of the vehicle. Life-saving measures were performed at the scene by deputies and fire and EMS from Mitchellville and Bondurant. Burton was transported to a metro hospital by air ambulance, but died from his injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
