Fall is here! Breezy and cool temps ahead

DES MOINES, Iowa — We’ve turned a corner into fall as cooler air has moved into Iowa on a breezy Sunday. We’ll stay breezy/windy and cool to start the week.

Monday brings a warm front, which will boost temps a bit, followed quickly by a cold front in the afternoon that could kick off a few showers, especially in northern Iowa.

Winds will gust to 30 mph or more on Monday, and to 40 mph or more as more chill air flows into the state Tuesday. Beyond that we stay cool and dry. We may see frost in parts of Iowa Thursday morning.

Upcoming highs are in the slideshow above, and your seven-day forecasts are below. Extended forecasts still keep us mostly above-average in terms of temperature and precipitation.

It appears we could see heavier rainfall NEXT Monday and Tuesday in Iowa, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see a few snowflakes in the state next week!
