DES MOINES, Iowa — Law enforcement officers from the Des Moines Police Department and the Iowa State Patrol were involved in a short chase that ended in a crash Friday morning in Des Moines.
Sgt. Paul Parizek, Public Information Officer for the DMPD, said the chase began as part of a narcotics investigation at SW 9th St. and Watrous Ave. It ended a few minutes after it began, when the white vehicle being pursued crashed a few miles north at SW 9th St. and Tuttle St.
Two people are in custody in connection with the chase and the ongoing DMPD narcotics investigation. Sgt. Parizek said drugs have been recovered from the incident.
Police are still investigating the scene of the crash. The vehicle being chased hit other cars during the pursuit and ended up on the sidewalk.
More information on the situation is expected to be released by the police later.
