Fleur Fall Fest highlights Latina businesses ahead of Día de Los Muertos

DES MOINES, Iowa — Upcoming Fleur Fall Fest is a Latina-inspired small business festival that will highlight local businesses and celebrate the spooky season ahead of Día de Los Muertos.

Jocelyn Paredes, an organizer of Fleur Fall Fest, says it’s not just a festival. It’s a celebration of community, culture, small businesses, and connection. A day to explore new foods, try fun activities, meet people, and support local.

Lupe López, founder of Lupe’s Flowers, says she and other vendors will have food, music, dance, coffee, candles, clothes and more for attendees  to shop and explore.

Visitors can expect giveaways (even for pets!), a kids Halloween contest, goodie bags, face painting, canvas painting, games, and live music. Plus, special appearances from Des Moines Rugby Club, a joined morning run with Coolrunnings DSM, and 515 Run Club.

Fleur Fall Fest is taking place Saturday at 4226 Fleur Drive, the Mayalu Coffee parking lot, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Lupe’s Flowers will also take part in a special Día de Muertos pop-up by La Ventanita featuring coffee, cempasúchil, candles, and beautiful boutique items — all from women-owned local businesses.

Pop-up event dates are October 31 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., November 1 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and November 2 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Celebrate, shop, and support local creators while finding the perfect pieces for your Día de Muertos ofrenda!
