JACKSON COUNTY, Iowa — The FAA is investigating after authorities say a personal plane made an emergency landing in a field in Jackson County on Friday.
According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, their dispatch was notified of a single engine aircraft attempting to make an emergency landing near US. Highway 61, near the Otter Creek area, around 5:20 p.m. on Friday. The pilot reported they were experiencing mechanical control issues with the aircraft.
JCSO deputies responded to the area and found that a privately owned Cessna airplane had landed in an agricultural field located on 216th Avenue, near Bellevue-Cascade Road.
The pilot had exited the plane without aid and was assessed for minor injuries. Authorities say they did not require any further medical attention. There were no passengers onboard the aircraft.
The FAA was notified and is conducting an investigation of the incident. The aircraft has since been disabled and removed from the location.
