DES MOINES, Iowa — The Des Moines Police Department says an investigation is underway after one person was injured during a shooting near the River Bend Neighborhood.
According to police, DMPD officers responded to 7th Street and Forest Avenue on reports of a shooting just after 8 p.m. Upon arrival, authorities found an adult female who had a gunshot injury to the arm.
The woman was transported via ambulance to MercyOne Des Moines for treatment. Authorities say her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Police say there is no indication of ongoing danger to the neighborhood. DMPD says Forest Avenue is temporarily closed between 6th Avenue and 7th Street while officers investigate.
Des Moines Police Department say additional information will be shared as it becomes available.
