Forecast: Rain and cooler air move in

DES MOINES, Iowa — Cool air is already in place over northwest Iowa as a cold front moves in our direction. Temperatures will fall as rain begins to fall this evening into Monday.

Temperatures won’t rebound much from Des Moines’ morning low of 58 degrees and will stay fairly steady during the day Monday.

Rain will move in this evening and spread across our viewing area overnight. There will be rumbles of thunder at times. Rain will taper off in southeast Iowa early Tuesday morning as the cold front continues to push southeast.

Rainfall amounts for most will be in the 0.3″ – 1.5″ range.

A big temperature change in the slideshow above. We do start to warm up again by the end of the week. It appears more above-average temperatures are ahead.
