WINDSOR HEIGHTS, Iowa — The Windsor Heights Fall Fest drew thousands to the two-day celebration featuring food, fun and family activities.
The fun got started on Friday with a movie in the park that had over 2,500 in attendance. Saturday morning started with a pancake breakfast put on by the Windsor Heights Fire Department and its firefighters association. The money raised goes to help with the fire departments public relations funding as well as helping with any equipment that needs to be purchased.
The City of Windsor Heights has helped put on the event by doing some of the logistical planning at Colby Park as well as the roads for the parade Saturday afternoon. The city administrator and public works director also talked on the newly renovated park where the festival is taking place.
The Des Moines Childrens’ Museum sponsored this years Witches Ride. This event featured a bike ride that gave kids the chance to ride their bikes while also dressing up in their best costumes. An organizer of the event, Susan Skeries, also talked about the rest of the fun taking place on Saturday.
Fun continues on Saturday with free activities throughout the day, a parade starting at 1 p.m., and the local band, Sons of Gladys Kravitz taking the stage at 6 p.m. with fireworks to follow.
