FAYETTE COUNTY, Iowa — The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office says a person was arrested on domestic abuse charges after a child handed a note asking for help to their bus driver.
The Fayette County SO says their office received a report from Sumner-Fredericksburg School that a child had gotten on the bus and handed the driver a note that read “Call 911” on Wednesday. Deputies were dispatched to a rural Westgate residence and made contact with the parent of the child.
Authorities say an investigation revealed that the child’s mother was being held against her will and had been unable to make a phone call, but was able to give the child a note asking for help. Glenroy Stefand Miller, 29, was arrested and charged with Domestic Abuse Assault and Obstructing an Emergency Communication.
Further investigation revealed that Miller had seriously assaulted the female victim throughout the night, according to police. The FCSO says Miller had started to take the victim to the hospital but turned around and forced her home after realizing he would go to jail. Authorities say Miller then continued to abuse the victim through the night causing serious injuries and threatening death by holding a knife to the victim.
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office say Miller currently faces the following charges:
- Domestic Abuse Assault w/Intent Serious Injury
- Willful Injury Causing Serious Injury
- Kidnapping 2nd Degree Armed w/Dangerous Weapon
- Obstruction of an Emergency Communication Device
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office says Miller is being held at the Fayette County Jail where he will await trial. The FCSO says Miller is also being held on an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainment.
