DES MOINES, Iowa — A juvenile was killed in a motorcycle vs. pedestrian accident in northeast Des Moines late Saturday evening.
According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, around 11 p.m. on Saturday PCSO dispatch received a report of a motorcycle versus pedestrian accident in the 4900 block of NE 29th Street in Des Moines.
Deputies arrived on scene a located a male juvenile who had been struck by a motorcycle while crossing the roadway. Lifesaving measures, including CPR, were immediately began by onsite deputies until Fire and Rescue arrived and continued advanced efforts.
The minor was transported via ambulance to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
The motorcyclist, identified as 23-year-old Kaelin Meinders, was transported to a local hospital and is receiving treatment for injuries sustained during the crash.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Investigators and Detectives are investigating the cause of the incident. No further details are being released at this time as the investigation remains ongoing.
