Forecast: Early week rain chances, warm weather continues

DES MOINES, Iowa — We’ve warmed nicely Sunday with more sunshine than Saturday. Your weather timeline takes you through a mild overnight into a few rain chances ahead.

After a soaker of a July, we’ve been short on precipitation in August and September. We have a few chances to start the week.

A few spotty showers will be possible in southern Iowa Sunday evening. Otherwise most of the rain looks to stay north of Iowa Sunday night with the exception of area north of Highway 18.

Monday, rain will slowly sink south across Iowa, with scattered storm chances moving into central Iowa during the evening hours. Scattered storm chances will stick around for all of us Tuesday, then linger in the south during the first part of Wednesday.

Most models give us 0.1″ – 1″ through Wednesday, depending our your location. Dewpoints will then drop below 60 degrees as winds shift on Thursday, giving us comfortable condition.

Highs for the next six days are above, and your WHO 13 7-day forecasts are below. Extended forecasts look to keep us warm and fairly dry.
