DES MOINES, Iowa — September is Prostate Cancer Awareness month. Team Blue Iowa spoke to WHO-TV about the upcoming Blue Believers Run/Walk and Junior Believers Fun Run, set for Saturday, September 20 at Principal Park. Lace up your sneakers and bring the family!
This community-driven event brings families, friends and supporters together to raise awareness of prostate cancer and the importance of early detection.
The Blue Believers Run/Walk invites participants of all ages and fitness levels to come together for a morning of health, hope and purpose. The Junior Believers Fun Run provides an opportunity for children to get involved, learn about healthy living and be part of a cause bigger than themselves. Superheroes will be there to cheer them on to the finish line!
“Prostate cancer affects one in eight men during their lifetime,” said Mark Good, Sr , founder of Team Blue Iowa and prostate cancer survivor. “Our mission is simple: to spread awareness, encourage early detection, and support Iowa families impacted by prostate cancer. Events like the Blue Believers Run/Walk allow us to do that while also building community.”
This fun-filled morning will feature a 5k run or walk/1-mile walk for all ages plus a special kids’ fun run, all while raising awareness for prostate cancer and the importance of early detection. Survivors, families and supporters will be recognized as the community comes together for health, hope and action.
