DES MOINES, Iowa — The Polk County Sheriff’s Office has made an arrest in the Lumberyard shooting that left one dead on Saturday.
Polk County deputies were called to the Lumberyard, located at 1504 NE 54th Avenue, on reports of shots fired around 3:41 a.m. Saturday morning. Crews arrived and located a deceased adult male in the parking lot.
Authorities opened and investigation and began interviewing witnesses. Just before 2 p.m. on Saturday, the Polk County SO announced that 30-year-old Derico Darrell Lowery had been arrested. Lowery was taken to the Polk County Jail and has been charged with Murder in the First Degree and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
On Sunday, the Polk County SO shared that the victim of the shooting was 28-year-old De’Tavion Marques Levi of Des Moines, Iowa.
