ANKENY, Iowa — The Ankeny Police Department says they have arrested a former band teacher on several counts of lascivious acts with a child.

According to the Ankeny PD, authorities arrested Michael Scott Burrows, 50, on three counts of lascivious acts with a child on Wednesday.

Authorities say an investigation was launched on August 8, 2025, after investigators received reports that Burrows had allegedly inappropriately touched a child between August 25, 2021, and May 20, 2022.

During the mentioned time period Burrows served as a band teacher at Ankeny Christian Academy, where police say the victim was a student.

Burrows turned himself into Ankeny police detectives on Wednesday and has since been transported to the Polk County Jail.
