15-year-old killed, one injured during collision in Calhoun County

CALHOUN COUNTY, Iowa — A 15-year-old was killed and another person was injured during a collision in Calhoun County.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the crash occurred just after 7 a.m. at the intersection of US 20 and Fletcher Avenue, northwest of Rockwell City.

Authorities say a Ford truck was northbound on Fletcher Avenue and failed to stop at a posted stop sign, resulting in a collision with a mack semi that had been traveling on US 20.

The truck came to rest in the south ditch. The driver of the vehicle, 15-year-old Cadyn Ogden, was killed. The semi came to rest in the median of the road. The driver, 71-year-old Richard Kanne, was injured.

The Iowa State Patrol says dense fog was reported at the time of the collision.

ISP was assisted by the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office and Emergency EMS, the Iowa DOT, and Lytton Fire Department and Rescue.
