The upcoming trial against embattled Madison County Treasurer Amanda DeVos, 37, has been moved to Boone County.
The upcoming trial against embattled Madison County Treasurer Amanda DeVos, 38, has been postponed. It will be held in Boone County after a change of venue was granted.

The trial was scheduled to begin on September 16. Court filings show the prosecution cites “scheduling concerns” and has requested that the pre-trial conference and the subsequent jury trial be rescheduled for a later date.

The new dates will be scheduled during a trial scheduling conference on September 11. DeVos is expected to attend by phone, according to court records.

DeVos faces four criminal charges stemming from alleged misconduct as the Madison County Treasurer, including Felonious Misconduct in Office, Tampering with Records, Fraudulent Practice in the third degree, and third-degree Theft.

The trial will be held in Boone County after her attorney filed for, and was granted, a change of venue in May. The pre-trial hearing is expected to happen in Winterset.

The delay comes after months of various others in the case. DeVos’ trial was originally scheduled to take place in June in Madison County. She was arrested in late January, for allegedly using her access as county treasurer to alter government records to make it look like she paid for her vehicle registration plates when she had not.

DeVos has pleaded not guilty.
