DES MOINES, Iowa — The Community Education program offered by Des Moines Public Schools was brought back last winter with a wide range of classes and certifications to take part in.
Fall registration is now open for anybody of any ages to partake in.
“Another youth program, we work with Hy-Vee to do like KidsFit in the kitchen. So that is teaching kids how to make healthy homemade snacks that are fairly cheap, so that’s a good one,” said Ryan Westerkamp, the Community Education Coordinator for the program. “Retiring planning classes or how to work social security, Medicare, so that is for older adults that are trying to make sure they know how to manage the system when they get to that age.”
Westerkamp joined Today in Iowa Saturday to discuss all the classes that will be offered this fall. You can view the full interview in the video above.
Online certification programs, workshops, wellness classes and more are available on the Community Education website.
