MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa — A 19-year-old was arrested on Wednesday in connection to a robbery that left two people injured, including one who had been shot.
At around 8 p.m. Tuesday night, the Marshalltown Police Department was notified of a patient who showed up at a local hospital with a gunshot wound. According to the MPD, the victim told detectives that the shooting had occurred at Nicholson Ford Park in the 1800 block of Marion Street. Police also learned of a second victim in the incident who had been struck in the head with a handgun, and that both victims had items stolen from them.
A description of the vehicle was provided by both the victims and other witnesses. The MPD said that thanks to a FLOCK camera, the suspect vehicle was found and led detectives to the suspect outside of Marshalltown.
On Wednesday, the MPD announced the arrest of Nicholas Lee Olivares, 19, in connection with the robbery and shooting. Olivares was booked into the Marshall County Jail and has been charged with the following:
- Attempt to Commit Murder
- Robbery First-Degree – two counts
- Willful Injury
- Assault While Participating in a Felony – two counts
- Going Armed With Intent
According to MPD, it appears the victims in this case were specifically targeted.
