DES MOINES, Iowa — Lows Sunday morning were in the 50s for most, and we’ll see more in the 40s Monday and Tuesday morning to make for a cool start to the school year. Wind gusts on Sunday have been similar to Saturday’s. Your weather timeline takes you into the week.

Rain chances are slim as we look ahead, with only tiny chances late Wednesday and Thursday in northern and northeast Iowa. If rain falls, it appears a lot of it will evaporate before it reaches the surface. Otherwise, expect a gradual warming trend. Dewpoints return to the 60s Friday and into the weekend.

Highs for the next six days are above, and your WHO 13 7-day forecasts are below.

Extended forecasts keep us in below-average or average temperatures into the beginning of September. The extended outlook for next month looks warm at this point.
