Alleman husband and wife died in crash near Elkhart, officials say

POLK COUNTY, Iowa — The names of a husband and wife from Alleman, who died Tuesday night following a crash near Elkhart, have been released by officials.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday identified 65-year-old Shannon O’Conner and 55-year-old Tammy O’Conner as the people who passed away as a result of the collision at the intersection of Northeast 29th Street and Northeast 142nd Avenue.

Deputies were called to the location around 7:35 p.m. on Tuesday and arrived to find that two vehicles were involved in the collision. Both of the O’Conners had been thrown from their vehicle. Shannon O’Conner was pronounced dead at the scene, and Tammy O’Conner was transported to the hospital but died from her injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle, an adult male, was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The PCSO has not released any other information but said the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
