DES MOINES, Iowa — A Des Moines man suffered critical injuries when he came in contact with a live power line.

On Monday at around 5 p.m. emergency crews responded to the 3400 block of 48th Place in the Beaverdale Neighborhood. According to the DMPD, a 49-year-old man came in contact with a live power line and was transported to a hospital with critical injuries.

Officers shut down 48th Place from Urbandale Avenue to Euclid Avenue for safety.

The DMPD said that MidAmerican Energy was on scene investigating the incident.

No additional information has been released.
