IOWA (KCAU) — Monday morning, State Representative J.D. Scholten has suspended his campaign for the US Senate.

According to a press release from Democratic candidate Josh Turek’s campaign team, Scholten will now endorse Turek for Senator Joni Ernst’s seat, who has yet to formally announce a re-election campaign.

Remaining Democratic candidates include Jackie Norris, Nathan Sage, and Zach Wahls. There are only two GOP candidates, Jim Carlin and Joshua Smith.

Scholten will make a formal announcement and address his departure Monday night at a campaign event for Turek in Council Bluffs.
