DES MOINES, Iowa — After a cloudy start, we’ve managed to see temperatures rise above Saturday’s, as forecast. We have one more day of heat.

A heat advisory (above) remains in effect until 8 p.m. this evening. Storms look to stay to our north and northeast Saturday night into Sunday morning, and we won’t see much relief with the overnight lows (below). Heat indices will again rise to the triple digits in parts of the state on Sunday.

An isolated storm is possible late Sunday afternoon into the evening, but better storm chances will come central Iowa’s way between roughly 3 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Monday. We’ll likely see storm chances increase again Monday evening into Tuesday morning. Then temperatures will cool a bit, and rain chances will subside.

We are not expecting heavy rain totals with these rounds of thunderstorms. And highs for the next six days (below) show the relief on the way.

Your WHO 13 7-day forecasts are above. Temperatures look to move back to or just below normal and dewpoints into a more comfortable range in the extended forecasts below.
