IOWA (KCAU) — A Democratic candidate has announced he’s entering the 2026 Iowa Senate Race.

Josh Turek, a Paralympic gold medalist and state legislator, has announced he is entering the race to be an Iowa State Senator.
“I love this country and I love Iowa,” Turek said in a statement. “But right now, families in Iowa are struggling. We have to bring down costs – the cost of health care, housing, prescription drugs, and the cost of doing business for farmers and small businesses. We have to prioritize working people, not billionaires and corporate interests that are screwing them over. Instead of cutting Medicaid for thousands of Iowans, we should make it easier for people to afford health care and address the growing rates of cancer. Joni Ernst went to Washington and forgot about fighting for us. Now she’s helping her party make life worse for working people while the wealthy and big corporations thrive. I’m running for Senate to stick up for Iowans, not billionaires.”
In June, former Senator Jim Carlin announced he would be running in the race as well.
