WARREN COUNTY, Iowa — One teenager was killed, and another was injured during a crash in Warren County on Saturday evening.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, the crash happened just after 3:30 p.m. near the intersection of Highway 5 and 200th Avenue, southeast of Carlisle.
A Ford Focus was traveling eastbound on Highway 5 when it left the road near 200th Avenue. The driver of the vehicle overcorrected and lost control of the vehicle. The car then entered the ditch sideways and rolled at least once before coming to a rest on the driver’s side.
The passenger of the car, 16-year-old Donald McCormick, was pronounced dead at the scene. Th driver of the vehicle, 16-year-old Isabella Ashford, was taken via ambulance to a Des Moines hospital.
The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, the Carlisle Police Department, the Warren County Medical Examiner, and the Hartford Police Department.
