DES MOINES, Iowa — The National Senior Games may be nearing its end, but the action is still hot as people battle it out for first.
The games kicked off on July 24 and will wrap up on August 4, with more than 12,500 athletes having traveled to Des Moines to compete in 26 events. Events were held in various locations across Des Moines and surrounding towns.
Sue Hlavacek, President and CEO of the National Senior Games Association, spoke about the impact of the games and what it takes to make it happen.
Hlavacek also spoke about the sports athletes competed in and how the athletes like being in Iowa and Des Moines.
Alex Wilson with Catch Des Moines talks about the economic impact and what it takes to host the National Senior Games in Des Moines.
The games will wrap up on Monday, August 4. A link to the remaining schedule can be found on the National Senior Games website. Admission is free and spectators are welcome.
