MADISON COUNTY, Iowa — It was announced Friday that there was insufficient evidence found to file charges against former Madison County Auditor Teri Kaczinski.
The Warren County Attorney’s office and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation had been investigating Teri Kaczinski, former Madison County Auditor, in relation to a contract with “RMG”.
‘Robert Morris Group,‘ a political consulting agency, was hired on January 28, 2025, for $250 an hour to provide “efficiency and operational stabilization services.” The county ultimately paid owner Craig Bergman more than $7,353.60 for 29 hours allegedly worked over two days at the courthouse.
However, the hiring of the consulting agency was never approved by the Board of Supervisors, and there was public outcry after residents learned of the contract, especially in light of major budget cuts happening within the county.
The Madison County Sheriff then told WHO 13 News in April that the complaint against Kaczinski was being sent to the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation due to the nature of the complaint and the officials it involved.
In May, Kaczinski resigned from her elected position days after her legal petition against the Board of Supervisors was dismissed in court.
The Warren County Attorney announced Friday that “there was insufficient evidence to find that Ms. Kaczinski had the requisite intent to violate the Code of Iowa”, and that no charges would be filed.
