PLEASANT HILL, Iowa — A teenager who was injured Thursday after being struck by a vehicle in Pleasant Hill is in critical condition, according to officials.
The City of Pleasant Hill said that the 16-year-old was struck by a vehicle around noon at University Avenue and NE 56th Street. They were trapped underneath the car and needed to be extricated.
On Friday, city officials said the teen has undergone surgery and is in critical but stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit at Iowa Methodist Medical Center.
The names of the teen and the driver of the vehicle that struck them have not been released.
The Pleasant Hill Police Department is continuing to investigate what caused the crash.
