Move for Adoption spreads awareness for 500+ youth in foster care

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa — Iowans for Adoption hosted its 11th Annual Move for Adoption event in West Des Moines Sunday afternoon.

Diana Lang, the Executive Director and Founder of Iowans for Adoption, said that the goal of Move for Adoption is to raise awareness.

“This event is an annual event that we host so that we can get basically publicity about the fact that there are 500, easily 500 youth in foster care waiting to be adopted,” Lang said.

Funds raised from the event go towards educational materials about Iowa’s Safe Haven Act and adoption from foster care.

Brandie Ubben, a Move for Adoption attendee, said that she is passionate about the event due to a personal connection.

“We’ve had three kids and so my youngest is a daughter and we adopted her in 2012. So yeah, I’ve a passion for adoption and just because it’s a it’s a big, it made a big impact in our lives.” Ubben said.
