DES MOINES, Iowa — The Des Moines Police Department announced that they are investigating two shootings early Sunday morning.
According to the department, just before 3 a.m. officers responded to Broadlawns Medical Center after after an adult male showed up to the property seeking care for a gunshot wound to leg.
The person was identified later by police as 31-year-old Andre Beasley. Beasley was uncooperative with the investigation, declining to give details of the shooting incident and provided officers with a false name. The department said further investigation found that Beasley had an active felony arrest warrant. After he was cared for at the medical center, officers took him into custody and booked him in the Polk County Jail.
Just hours later at 5 a.m., officers responded to the 2700 block of Euclid Avenue. There were reports of a shooting incident that occurred at the property. Once on scene, officers found a 29-year-old male with a gunshot injury to his buttocks. Police said the male was uncooperative and refused medical care. He then transported himself to UnityPoint to receive care for his injuries.
The Des Moines Police Department said that during the investigation at this scene, officers were met with an unruly crowd. That resulted in two arrest: one disorderly conduct chare, one public intoxication charge.
There has not yet been any indication from the department if these incidents were connected or not. Police tell WHO 13 News that the investigation is ongoing with Des Moines Police Department Crimes Against Persons detectives and more information will be shared when able.
