Mitchell County man killed in SUV vs. train crash

MITCHELL COUNTY, Iowa — A Mitchell County man was killed when his SUV was struck by a train on Wednesday morning.

At around 10:15 a.m. emergency crews responded to a train vs. vehicle crash in the 3800 block of Indigo Avenue northwest of Osage. An Iowa State Patrol crash report states that a Ford Explorer was traveling northbound on Indigo Avenue and failed to yield at a railroad crossing for a train. The train struck the driver’s side of the SUV.

According to the crash report, the driver of the SUV, identified as 62-year-old Kenneth Warrington of St. Ansgar, died from his injuries at the scene.
