IOWA — Numerous rounds of rain during the weekend soaked central Iowa since Saturday morning.
Severe storms fired up in the early morning hours of Saturday, dropping across Central Iowa and the Metro. This round brought gusty winds and a tornado warning for parts of the Des Moines Metro.

Heavy rain developed after midnight Saturday night to Sunday morning bringing flash flood warnings through Central Iowa.

And finally, Sunday evening, isolated storms with heavy rain developed and did not move, dumping more significant rain on the south side of Des Moines.

The Des Moines Airport had a new record one-day rain total for July 20th with 2.77″ measured at the airport on Sunday, beating the 2.41″ in 1907.

Estimates show possibly more than 6″ in parts of the Metro, in particular on the south side of Des Moines and West Des Moines. There is another band of heavy rain estimates from near Atlantic to Chariton.
