DES MOINES, Iowa — Despite partly cloudy skies, we’ve managed to replace yesterday’s September-like air with temperatures and humidity closer to what we’d normally find in mid-July. Your weather timeline steps you into warming and storming.

Parts of Iowa are in a level two out of five risk for severe weather both late tonight and late Saturday night. Wind and possibly hail are the main threats, with heavy rain very likely.

The four images below allow you to compare our two short-term computer models, the HRRR and the GRAF, in their timing and location of storms tonight into Saturday morning and late Saturday evening into Sunday morning. Following, you can also compare rain totals from both models by Sunday morning. The model solutions are similar, but have slight differences.

There’s also a chance we could see a few scattered storms Monday and Tuesday, and possibly again by Friday.

Highs for the next six days are in the slideshow above. Heat builds in again starting Tuesday. Your seven-day forecasts are below.

The extended forecasts below keep us in the heat!
