Free Family Friday kicks off Sukup IndyCar Race Weekend

NEWTON, Iowa — Sukup IndyCar Race Weekend kicks off at the Iowa Speedway with Free Family Friday in Newton.

Free Family Friday gives a chance for families to get in on the fun without having to purchase tickets. Kristin Stepinski is the general manager for race weekend at the Iowa Speedway, and says that the whole family can get a backstage look ahead of the weekend’s races.

“We pretty much just open the gates and let anybody that wants to come down and check out what we’ve got going on here at the track,” Stepinski said. “Autograph sessions with both the Indy NXT drivers and our NTT IndyCar series drivers. We’ve also got local bands going on our Turn 4 Stage with DJ’s playing and people can purchase garage passes to go check out the garages and watch all the teams working on all the cars.”

Gates open today at 1:00 p.m. to kick of the weekend fun with practice sessions beginning at 12:30 p.m. On Saturday, the Indy NXT race starts at 12:30 p.m. with the SYNK 275 race following at 4:00 p.m. Then, the final green flag will drop at Noon on Sunday for the Farm to Finish 275 to wrap up race weekend.
