HENRY COUNTY, Iowa — The Iowa National Guard on Tuesday announced that one of its soldiers died in a crash in Henry County.
According to the Iowa National Guard, Specialist Marin Michael Rose, 19, of Fort Madison died in a crash in rural Mt. Pleasant on Wednesday, July 2. SPC Rose joined the Iowa Army National Guard in 2023 and served as a transportation driver with the 1133rd Transportation Company, Detachment 1, in Iowa City.
The Iowa National Guard said that SPC Rose “quickly became a beloved member of his unit, known for his work ethic, positive attitude, and deep commitment to his fellow Soldiers.”
SPC Rose graduated from Fort Madison High School in 2024 where he played basketball and football. He was remembered as being a Miami Dolphins fan and an Iowa Hawkeyes fan. He also loved weather-watching and spending time with his family.
Funeral services have been scheduled for Thursday in Fort Madison. Military honors will be rendered by the Iowa Army Honor Guard.
