IOWA — The Iowa Department of Natural Resources says swimming is not recommended at several state beaches over the 4th of July weekend.
On Friday, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources released a list of 12 state beaches that exceeded the state’s threshold for E. coli. These beaches include:
- Backbone Beach in Delaware County
- Beeds Lake Beach in Franklin County
- Blue Lake Beach in Monona County
- Denison Beach in Sac County
- Green Valley Beach in Union County
- Lake Darling Beach in Washington County
- Lake Manawa Beach Pottawattamie County
- McIntosh Woods Beach in Cerro Gordo County
- Nine Eagles Beach in Decatur County
- North Twin Lake West Beach in Calhoun County
- Pine Lake South Beach in Hardin County
- Prairie Rose Beach in Shelby County
A swimming not advised warning is now in place for these beaches until E.coli levels drop below the state’s threshold.
