DALLAS COUNTY, Iowa — A motorcycle crash claimed the life of one person Tuesday night just west of Adel.
The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office said it received an automatic crash notification at 8:24 p.m. in the area of Old Highway 6 and L Avenue. When deputies arrived, they determined a single motorcycle had been involved in the crash.
The motorcyclist, 53-year-old Douglas Randolph of rural Adel, was found to be unconscious. Though CPR was performed, Randolph was pronounced dead at the scene.
The DCSO said it appeared Randolph was traveling at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the motorcycle while going around the curve at Old Highway 6 and L Avenue. The motorcycle entered the south ditch and ended up in a field.
The Adel Police Department, De Soto Police Department, Dallas County EMS, and Adel Fire Department assisted DCSO at the scene.
