Forecast: A few storms, then warm and dry

DES MOINES, Iowa — Clouds and cool air from morning storms passing through the area have made for a pleasant start to Sunday. The sun has begun to reemerge, and temperatures are responding. The weather timeline below takes you through slight storm chances into Tuesday.

Storms have already formed in northeast Iowa as of Sunday afternoon, and that will be the favored area for development this evening. These storms will die out overnight. A few storms are then possible during the day and evening on Monday as a disturbance passes over Iowa, but most will stay dry.

Temperatures will stay quite warm this week and dewpoints high, but a lack of any lifting mechanism or boundary will keep us thunderstorm-free until Friday night and Saturday, when a boundary and upper-level disturbance will wander through the area.

Highs for the next six days are above, and your WHO 13 7-day forecasts follow.

Severe chances stay away until Saturday. The extended outlooks below seem to point toward a continued warm and active pattern into mid-July.
