A Flash Flood Warning is in place for numerous counties in southern Iowa this morning. Estimates of 3 to 7″ of rain have fallen in counties like Adams, Ringgold, Taylor, and Decatur. The Flash Flood warning will last through noon as rain continues to come down.

The stationary front is still draped across Iowa but further south today. This means it won’t be as hot. Highs will be in the upper 70s to low 80s. We will still have periods of rain and thunderstorms, but the risk of severe storms is not as high as Monday evening. We’ll see scattered showers and storms at times today.

The front will push north as a warm front overnight and bring more heavy rainfall through Wednesday morning. Storm chances will be more across Northern Iowa during the day on Wednesday, with some clearing of the skies and low 90s in southern Iowa. The low pressure and a cold front will finally cross the state on Thursday and will bring warm sunny conditions for the first part of the day, and then more storms by the afternoon and evening.
An additional 1 to 5″ inches of rain may fall across the state through the end of the week.

Friday and Saturday look to be our driest days with only a chance of a stray shower or storm. It will get hot again in the low 90s this weekend. Get the full forecast here.
