Des Moines man arrested, charged with OWI and child endangerment

DES MOINES, Iowa — Des Moines Police released information about a Des Moines man arrested and charged with multiple offenses.

57-year-old Travis Trammel is in the Polk County Jail Sunday morning after a Des Moines police officer stopped him for driving 91 mph in a 35 mph zone. He was stopped just after 4 p.m. on Saturday on Indianola Avenue where officers recognized signs of impairment, Trammel also had two children, 8 and 10-years-old, in the vehicle at the time of the stop.

According to police, Trammel was charged with two counts of Child Endangerment, an aggravated misdemeanor; OWI, a serious misdemeanor; Interference with Official Acts, a simple misdemeanor; Reckless Driving and Excessive Speed.

The Des Moines Police Department added that without the intervention by officers the incident could have become a tragedy.
