JOHNSTON, Iowa — Johnston Green Days is putting on its annual weekend festival with a variety of events and plants to keep guests cool.
Johnston Green Days is hosting its annual festival at the Terra Lake Park in Johnston. The festival faced a few setbacks due to carnival ride issues and heat conditions. The parade was moved to Thursday to beat the heat, but other events are still happening as scheduled.
The Kids Zone has been filled with inflatables, a rock wall, bumper carts, and water games. Live music, food trucks, and drink tents are available for attendees to enjoy. Attendees on Friday night say they wanted to support Johnston, so the weather didn’t deter them.
“Honestly, it’s perfect out here, the night’s a little warm, but the breeze feels good. Yeah, I couldn’t imagine doing anything else,” said Alex Breitsprecher, a first-time attendee.
“Oh, we have come out to one before. We have a lot of events at this park. Yeah, kite days, all good stuff, and Johnston has got a lot of good stuff going on,” said Jessica Oster, who brought her family out for the event.
Green Days has a few events at 8 a.m. Saturday morning, with a majority of the events, including live music, vendor markets, and food trucks, resuming at 11 a.m.. Green Days will finish its weekend festivities with a fireworks display at 11 p.m.
