DES MOINES, Iowa — Recent Netflix BBQ Showdown champion Thyron Mathews joins the Today in Iowa crew to talk all things pork ahead of the third annual BBQ & Brews event at Principal Park sponsored by the Iowa Pork Producers Association.

Owner of Thyron Mathews BBQ, formerly T&T BBQ, in Oelwein, Iowa, the 16-time Grand Champion detailed his journey from his Florida hometown roots, taking over the grill as a student-athlete at Upper Iowa University, and to becoming a current star on the Food Network’s cooking competition BBQ Brawl.

Mathews is hosting and participating in the June 21st BBQ and Brews event at Principal Park, which is scheduled from 12 pm-4 pm on Saturday. Spend an afternoon sampling delicious Iowa pork and sipping craft brews, with a full lineup of music and entertainment. All proceeds support food banks across the state!
