Dads Rock Festival debuts in Indianola ahead of Father’s Day

INDIANOLA, Iowa — Father’s Day came early to Indianola with the first-ever Dad’s Rock Festival.

This is the first year of the Dad’s Rock Festival, and Amanda Zwanziger, President and CEO of Indianola Chamber of Commerce, said it’s about time.

“This is an incredible day of celebration, and let’s do it up right. We’ve created a truly family-friendly celebration,” said Zwanziger. “We decided there needed to be a true festival celebrating the dads in our community.”

During the event, children were able to make cards, crafts, and other gifts to share with the dads in their lives. Meanwhile, dads got to live it up at the man cave, which featured a 35-foot TV, the Big Boy Toy Zone, and a barbecue.

“It’s been a great weekend so far, I’m looking forward to taking it all in and maximizing our day,” said Justin Shaw. “Great to celebrate Indianola, the fathers, the dads, the kids, the families and this is a great setup.”

Dads were also encouraged to participate in the Dad Bod Parade. The lighthearted tribute featured tons of dad-like swagger, including jean shorts, polos, and mowing socks. Prizes were awarded “Most Glorious Gut”, “Best Lawn Chair Lounge Look”, and “Best Mowing Outfit.”
