One of two pedestrians injured during Friday’s accident has died

AMES, Iowa — One of the two pedestrians critically injured on Friday night in Ames has died.

According to the Ames Police Department, officers were called to the intersection of Bloomington and Grand Avenue at approximately 7:50 p.m. on reports of an accident. Officers located two pedestrians who had been struck by a car.

One person was transported to Mary Greeley Medical Center and later pronounced dead. The other person was transported to a Des Moines hospital via air ambulance; their condition is unknown.

An investigation into the accident has been opened and is being led by the Iowa State Patrol.
