Hot, muggy Wednesday and storm chances

DES MOINES, Iowa — As forecast, it was a much warmer day today. But the heat really builds in on Wednesday. Your weather timeline steps you through it.

Lows will stay a lot warmer tonight as dewpoints begin to rise, and those plus temperatures in the 90s will make for a sultry Wednesday.

The Storm Prediction Center has placed Iowa in a marginal risk for severe weather both Wednesday and Thursday, with wind and hail being minor threats. Most of the thunderstorm activity looks to affect mainly northern Iowa both days.

The best chance to see accumulating rain in central and southern Iowa looks to come on Friday. At this point the weekend looks dry.
