DES MOINES, Iowa — A flight heading for Chicago made an emergency landing at the Des Moines International Airport Saturday morning.

A spokesperson from the DSM airport told WHO 13 News that an American Airlines flight departed Saturday morning from Des Moines and was destined for Chicago.

The flight encountered an unspecified mechanical issue and requested an emergency landing. It touched down safely at 6:40 a.m. in Des Moines.

The plane was evacuated, and passengers have been rebooked on other American Airlines flights.
