DES MOINES, Iowa — Overnight, scattered rain brought minimal rain totals in a few locations early Tuesday morning.

Here’s a look at a few of the totals:
- Audubon: 0.42″
- Ames: 0.37″
- Perry: 0.16″
- Marshalltown: 0.14″
- Ankeny: 0.10″
- Boone: 0.09″
- Iowa Falls: 0.08″
- Fort Dodge: 0.05″
- Des Moines: 0.03″

More showers and storms will pop up along a boundary draped across southern Iowa by late afternoon and evening. A few storms may bring training rainfall over the same locations for a few hours in southeast Iowa, including communities like Centerville and Ottumwa, late tonight.

A few storms could produce hail or damaging winds, but the tornado threat appears low. There is a marginal risk of severe storms in the late afternoon and evening from Ames and Des Moines, south and eastward.

Wednesday will bring a lull in the storm action for the mid-morning to noon hour, but instability and moisture build, and storms will again fire up along the stalled out front draped across the state. These storms could bring heavy pockets of rain.

Rainfall amounts will be very sporadic across the state through Wednesday night, depending on who gets caught under the spotty storms. Totals could vary from a tenth of an inch of rain to just under 1″.
