I-80 shut down after incident involving law enforcement in Dallas County

DALLAS COUNTY, Iowa — An incident involving law enforcement caused the closure of I-80 in both directions of travel in Dallas County Tuesday morning.

The first call went out on law enforcement dispatch radios around 1:30 Tuesday morning. On the law enforcement radio traffic, a dispatcher said, “Deputy says male is actively shooting at her.” Officers closed I-80 west of De Soto as the investigation unfolded. And within 20 minutes, an officer is heard saying, “Suspect’s down, 153.”

There’s not a lot of information from officials at this time. What we do know is that I-80 remains closed in both directions between Exit 104 and Exit 106. A detour is in place that takes drivers through Redfield.
