DECORAH, Iowa — After winning $50,000 on an Iowa Lottery scratch game, a Decorah man has big plans for improvements for a special member of the family.
“A fence in our backyard for our dog so she can run around and be more free,” Brett Sersland told the Iowa Lottery.
Sersland, 33, has a Rottweiler named Reese’s and says a portion will go towards her while the rest will be used to fix up his car and go into savings.
Sersland had a hard time believing he had such big winnings from a scratch-off and needed to check the facts himself.
“I wanted to see what a big winner ticket would look like. I looked at Joker’s Wild on there and it was surreal to actually have it in my hand and see it,” he said.
The winning ticket was bought at 101 Rossville Road in Waukon, Sersland later claimed his prize at the Iowa Lottery Cedar Rapids regional office. Joker’s Wild is a $5 scratch game that features 8 top prizes of $50,000
